Welcome

This is my space, from here you can find out about work that I am involved in, projects I have done, and things I plan to do. To date.

Who am I?

Ok so that all being well and good, it still doesn't tell you much about who I am. Well I am a physics student at The University of Edinburgh in Scotland. A fantastic university with an amazing physics department. My area of interest in physics is in quantum physics, relativity and particle physics. I find the concepts that they seem to eminate absolutely fascinating. Although, from time to time my head does hurt from thinking too much.

Not only do I have a passion for physics, but I also have a passion for becoming entirely consumed in the reading of Fantasy Novels. Such authors to feature on my number 1 lists are David Eddings (My first fantasy experience), Trudi Canavan (Recommended to me by a great friend), Elizabeth Haydon, Ian Irvine, Terry Brooks, Terry Goodkind, and a few others. And whilst a few of you will be saying "But where is Robert Jordan?", Well, I tried, I really did, but he just never got anywhere very fast, if anywhere at all in his books. The early novels in The Wheel of Time series were good, I'll admit, but then they became hard work. David Eddings on the other hand, amazing novels, very good pace, and short enough (per book) to keep you going, and in depth enough to keep you completely raptured, amoungst others, my favourites being The Belgariad, and The Redemption of Althalus (A great one-book read which I really recommend for anyone). As for Terry Pratchet, well one day I might get down to some serious Pratchet reading, but at the moment I'm fine with what I've got.

In my spare time, I like to think of myself as a freelance webdesigner, with recent success in creating graphics, (see any page on this site for examples) My most notable work so far in this field has been a wildlife website for my parents. It has a complete built in contents management system, plus a special account should something go severely wrong, and also for upgrades to include new features. This means it is able to be hosted remotely without me having any connection via ftp or otherwise and I can still upload files to replace other files, and run database queries. (See Work for address and further examples)

My music interests are very ranged, however it must be said that my favourite group is Enigma. If you have not heard any of their work then I suggest you give them a listen. They have a new age ambient sound but arent afraid of mixing in some amazing electronica (I know a few people will blanch at that), however they have blended the many musical styles perfectly, resulting in some amazing relaxation music and also some upbeat music. Second to note would be Mike Oldfield, I got started with his classic Tubular Bells II, and then just progressed from their. My favourite piece's he has done to date would be On Horseback, and also Man in the Rain, truly amazing pieces. I also like a variety of classical music, ranging from Enya, to the piece Clair de Lune(sp), and I will also admit a particular liking for dance music (I can't help the way I am, but I sure can enjoy it). However I do not like modern pop or rap music. Nothing against them, but I just dont blend well with them.

To the left you will find a few website links that I am interested in, and some you may be interested in too.
